Ice Trays

I believe that one of the worst designs of all time may be the ice tray. I say this for a few reasons. For one my sink was never placed next to the refrigerator and was a short walk to and from the two points. Why this was a problem was because when walking back to place the tray into my freezer I was almost always would spill some on the way back. There was no real fill line or desired point where you stop filling it up but for some reason I always went a little more than you probably needed and would always cause this to happen. Another reason is because the how many times has anyone not been able to get the ice out of the tray. I always end up twisting to flex the plastic or bang it against a hard surface to get it out. New refrigerators have a built in ice dispenser so it pretty much took away the use for them now but that was always one of the worst designs that came to mind.

  1. Agreed. Usually I twist the tray to dislodge the cubes, then either pry them out with my fingernails or have to dump them on the counter. Both bad results.

  2. I agree with this. About a month ago i was using an ice tray and when i twisted the tray to get either one or two ice cubes out half of the ice cubes popped out and fell on the floor.

  3. Definitely. Last year the ice tray that we had for our room ended up breaking because someone tried to bang the ice out
